Vacon Latin America, Press Release, 26 October 2009

Vacon exhibits full range of AC drives in Brazil

The global AC drives manufacturer Vacon will display its widest range of low-voltage AC drives at the ABTCP-PI 2009 exhibition in São Paulo, Brazil on 26-29 October. Vacon’s air- and liquid-cooled AC drives and common DC bus components are well suited for all branches of the industry. Vacon is also extending its services in Brazil, where the economy is rapidly recovering from a short-term recession.

“The pulp and paper industry in Latin America in particular is a very important and interesting business segment for Vacon. Our wide product range and local presence in the entire region allow us to offer unique expertise and service for all customers in the industry,” says Mr Heikki Hiltunen, Executive Vice President, Vacon.

“Vacon provides energy-saving solutions to end-customers as well as system integrators. We have one of the widest coverage of low-voltage AC drives in our product portfolio, ranging from small independent drives to complex sectional drive systems. For instance, our high-power Vacon NXC cabinet drives are an excellent choice for large pump applications. It also seems that the role of liquid-cooled AC drives has increasingly grown in the pulp & paper industry,” Hiltunen continues.

Vacon AC drives are available in the power range of 0.25 kW – 5 MW. For system drives, Vacon has a complete range of products for the common DC bus systems, consisting of supply units and inverters. These modules can be used to configure a common DC bus system according to process and application requirements, and they offer high I/O configurability and a wide range of communication alternatives. The Vacon DriveSynch technology allows the control of one motor by means of 2 to 4 power units of 100 – 2,500 kW, thus bringing significant redundancy in the processes controlled by AC drives.

“Thanks to our independent position as a manufacturer, Vacon is an ideal partner for instance for companies which deliver solutions to the pulp & paper industry. With a strong local and global team we will be able to make fast deliveries and offer high-quality support and services to our existing and new customers,” says Mr Claudio Luis Baccarelli, Managing Director, Vacon Latin America.

Vacon has delivered AC drives to all major pulp and paper companies globally and has several major partners in the business, such as Voith Paper Automation, Metso and Honeywell. One of Vacon’s recent references is the Kama paper mill in Krasnokamsk, Russia.

You are welcome to Vacon’s stand 395/396/397 at the ABTCP-PI 2009 Exhibition.
