Vacon to extend services in Latin America
The global AC drives manufacturer Vacon is extending its services in Brazil, where the economy is rapidly recovering from a short-term recession.
“Now that the economy is picking up again in Brazil, we see a lot of business opportunities in Latin America. To serve our existing and new customers and partners even better, we have employed new personnel and moved our office in Barueri, São Paulo, to new and larger premises,” says Heikki Hiltunen, Executive Vice President, Vacon Group.
“Our growing sales figures have increased the need for technical support. Now we are strengthening a technical support and service network in Brazil and we will expand the network to cover the entire Latin America,” says Claudio Luis Baccarelli, Managing Director, Vacon Latin America. “We also want to win a bigger share of the mining, pulp & paper and marine & offshore segments, and we are looking for partners in original equipment and original design manufacturer businesses. With a strong local team we will be able to provide fast deliveries and high-quality support and services to our existing and new customers,” Mr Baccarelli concludes.
Vacon founded an office in Brazil in 2007. The inauguration of the new premises will be celebrated on 22 October with customers, cooperation partners and representatives of the Vacon Group management attending at the ceremony. The guest of honour will be Mr Jan Jarne, Finland’s Honorary Consul General in São Paulo, Brazil.
The contact information of the office is: Vacon América Latina Ltda., Av. Sagitário, 447, AlphaConde 1, Barueri - SP - 06473-073, Brazil, Tel. +55 11 4166-5707, Support telephone line: +55 11 8467-8642, Fax. +55 11 4166-5567, e-mail vacon.brazil@vacon.com.
After the inauguration, Vacon will participate in the ABTCP-PI 2009 exhibition, the most important event in the Latin American pulp and paper sector organized in São Paulo, Brazil on 26-29 October.
Brazil is the 10th largest energy consumer in the world and the largest in Latin America. Vacon variable speed AC drives bring considerable energy savings and improve process control. These two major benefits provide a significant market potential in Latin American countries, where the energy infrastructure is being built up and blackouts are frequent. Companies are increasingly adopting the AC drives technology to reduce energy costs. Additionally, complex applications in many industries are using AC drives to gain better efficiency. This is likely to sustain the low-voltage drives market in the coming years.
